2018 Toyota Aygo Facelift
The Toyota Aygo City Car is getting a facelift for 2018, with more emphasis on its ‘X’ at the front and added refinement for the engine and cabin.
It’s four years since the current Toyota Aygo arrived, sporting a big ‘X’ at the front and promising to be an individual choice in the City Car market. And it’s a more than decent offering.
In the last four years, Toyota has delivered a number of Aygo ‘Specials’ (like here and here) since then to keep punters interested, and now it’s time for a facelift.
The 2018 Toyota Aygo takes the stylised ‘X’ on the front and turns it in a to a proper architectural feature, rather than a graphic illusion, adds new headlights and integrated running lights, a bit more of a grille and a bit of accentuation beneath the lights too.
Round the back there are new tail lights, new colours are on offer, new wheel choices, and in the cabin there are some new graphics and more premium colour schemes. All round fairly standard facelift fodder.
But Toyota has worked to improve the Aygo under the skin too, with a reduction in cabin noise and vibration levels, and the suspension and steering have been tweaked, say Toyota, to react more quickly and precisely.
The 1.0 litre three-cylinder engine remains, but it’s now Euro 6.2 compliant, has a new dual fuel injection system, higher compression ratio, new low-friction components and improved balancer shaft.
The changes add a very modest 2bhp to the Aygo’s stable, and Toyota claim an improvement in economy to 72.4mpg.
The 2018 Toyota Aygo will debut in Geneva next month and be on sale at Toyota’s UK dealers later in the year.
