Volvo boss Tweets ‘Spy’ photo of Volvo’s all new S60 saloon
A ‘Spy’ photo of the all new Volvo S60 saloon winter testing in Norway has been Tweeted by Volvo boss Håkan Samuelsson?, raising speculation it may debut at the Geneva Motor Show. But it won’t.
We’ve had two thirds of Volvo’s new core 60 Series range revealed already, first with the absolutely excellent new XC60 and, just last week, the new V60 Estate. That newly revealed Volvo V60 is heading off to the Geneva Motor Show next week for its public debut, but a Tweet by Volvo boss Håkan Samuelsson has many suggesting the S60 saloon will join the V60 at Geneva on Volvo’s stand to complete the three part 60 Series set.

Samuelsson tweeted the photo (above) of the new S60 earlier this week as it was out winter testing in Norway, looking as close to the new S90 as the new V60 is to the new V90.
Which is no surprise; the S60 will have little to show when it does arrive, apart from the back-end treatment which we hope is a bit more impressive than its V90 sibling’s (it’s the only slightly weak part of a very convincing car).
Inside is going to be the same as the new V60’s, engine options are going to mirror the V60 and trim levels will too.
That said, BMW and Mercedes continue to prove there’s still a healthy market for compact saloons with the 3 Series and C-Class, and the Volvo ethos of comfort, competence and cool could find real favour amongst buyers in the new S60.
With everything from a rep-special S60 D3 through to a full-fat S60 T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid, Volvo should cover all the potential bases with the new S60.
But will the new Volvo S60 debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show?
No, it will actually debut at Volvo’s US Plant in South Carolina – where it will be built – in the summer.
