Jaguar XE Project 8 is “STAGGERING” say Racing Legends (video)

The Jaguar XE Project 8 has continued to be developed since its reveal, and with production due to start in June Jaguar has garnered the opinion of two racing legends to add the the Project 8’s kudos.

It’s nearly a year since Jaguar revealed their Project 8 XE as a showcase for the potential of the XE, sadly not to be reflected in a normal production XE, and it offered much for buyers who love a quick performance saloon, even if it £150k was priced at three time a normal range-topping XE.

To demonstrate the Project 8’s prowess, Jaguar took it off to the Nurburgring for a record breaking blat last November where it grabbed the gong for the fastest four-door production saloon (well, if just 300 units count as proper production) from the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio with a time of 7min 23sec.

Despite all that, it seems Jaguar’s SVO has been continuing to fettle the Project 8 ahead of builds starting in June, with stuff like improved suspension bushes, stiffer springs and engine mounts and better feedback for the brakes. And now they’ve enlisted a couple of ‘Racing Legends’ to give added credence to the Project 8’s claims, with Le Mans winners Andy Wallace and Davy Jones joining the SV Engineering team for a bit of fun round Goodwood.

You can see that outing in the video below, but Wallace says it’s staggering how Jaguar has made the XE feel like a proper racing car, and that its brakes and steering are brilliant. Jones was surprised by its sheer acceleration, huge grip, no body roll and performance.

It all sounds great and might help Jaguar shift the 200 Project 8 cars not yet actually sold.
