New Mercedes B-Class revealed
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz B-Class is revealed at the Paris Motor Show as a more rounded MPV promising better handling and more comfort.
Mercedes-Benz has been busy rolling out their new A-Class range, and now we get what is really an extension of the A-Class offerings with the new Mercedes B-Class, Mercedes’ MPV take on their compact range.Originally a bigger take on the old Mercedes A-Class, Mercedes has persevered with the B-Class, despite sales around half of what they were when the current B-Class first launched, and promise this new B-Class is better in every way than the current model. Let’s hope that helps sales.
Looking still familiar as a B-Class, the new B-Class gets a smoother look to its body and the face of the new A-Class to make it look fresh and new, and give it a shot against the BMW 2 Series active Tourer, although there will be no seven-seat option.
Inside it’s pretty familiar A-Class territory, although the dash screens come in three different flavours with a pair of 7″ screens, a 7″ and 10.25″ screen or the full fat widescreen pairing of two 10.25″ screens.
Engine options at launch will be the 134bhp B 180, the 161bhp B 200, 114bhp B 180 d, 148bhp N 200 d and 188bhp B 220 d, all with dual clutch ‘box – eight-speed 8G-DCT with the larger diesel engine – with more engines, and Mercedes 4MATCI 4WD, to follow.
Sales of the new Mercedes B-Class start in December, with first customer deliveries due in February 2019.
