New Suzuki Jimny selling like Hot Cakes
The new Suzuki Jimny – Suzuki’s little off-road marvel – is selling so well in Japan it looks like big demand in the UK will be difficult to satisfy.
The new Suzuki Jimny – revealed in July – may not be the greatest little car on the road, but there’s nothing to compare to it, certainly at the price, when you go off-road.In an age where cars are getting more and more complex, the new Jimny is still a ‘basic’ car, a car which Euro NCAP gave only three stars to because of its lack of driver assistance systems, but that isn’t stopping buyers queuing up to place and order.
It seems demand in Japan for the Jimny is ‘staggering’, and Suzuki in the UK has already had more potential buyers register for the new Jimny than they sell in a year – some 4,500 – according to Autocar.
And now it seems that big demand in Japan is going to see a lot of UK buyers disappointed, as Suzuki plans to deliver only 1,100 Jimnys to the UK in the first year, rising to 2,000 a year thereafter. Which, on that basis, could mean a wait of a year or more for many in the UK.
Unless Suzuki find a way to increase production.
