Jaguar I-Pace is the 2018 Professional Driver Car of the Year
The electric Jaguar I-Pace has been voted the 2018 Professional Driver Car of the Year, as it’s declared a ‘Game Changer’ by the magazine.
You can understand why a car as innovative, and as on the Zeitgeist, as the electric Jaguar I-Pace has garnered a chunk of awards already – including German Car of the Year and Scottish Car of the Year – as it appeals so much with its promise of proper real world electric motoring, innovative styling and premium badge. But the world of professional drivers isn’t one which is easily seduced by ‘gadgets’, needing reliability, practicality and comfort above all else, but the Jaguar I-Pace has managed to seduce them too, winning the 2018 Professional Driver Car of the Year Award to add to its growing cabinet of gongs.
The awards by Professional Driver Magazine – a monthly publication for UK private hire, chauffeur and taxi industry – are amongst the most rigorous in the business, with seven categories and a two-day judging event to shake down the good from the just alright and let the cream float to the top. And this year’s cream is the I-Pace.
Unsurprisingly, the I-Pace also won the award for Green Car of the Year, with Mark Bursa, the magazine’s editor, saying:
The I-Pace generated unprecedented levels of enthusiasm at or two-day judging event in September, and we knew we had our likely winner even before we’d added up the scores.
We’ve never had a car in such demand for test drives, and we’ve never had quite such a torrent of positive feedback as we had for our 2018 Professional Driver Car of the Year. As one judge commented: ‘This could be the game-changer we’ve been waiting for”.
