Volkswagen Tiguan gets Match and R-Line Tech trims
The Volkswagen Tiguan comes in for some 2019 updates, with the Tiguan Match replacing SE and SE Nav, a new R-Line Tech and new 227bhp petrol engine.
Last month, Volkswagen revealed a Golf Match to replace the SE and SE Nav as the Mk 7 Golf comes to the end of its life, and it’s now having a similar play with the Tiguan. The range of tweaks for the Tiguan for 2019 include the arrival of the Tiguan Match to replace the Tiguan SE and SE Nav, the arrival of the Tiguan R-Line Tech to usurp the regular R-Line, and a new 227bhp petrol engine option too.
The new Tiguan Match builds on the spec of the Tiguan SE by adding Park Assist, Rear view Camera, Keyless and 19″ alloy wheels to the standard spec.
VW say this equates to an overall saving of more than £1,300 over the previous models, with the FWD Tiguan Match 130 PS 1.5-litre TSI EVO costing from £26,750. The Tiguan Match offerings top out at £34,770 for the 2.0-litre TDI SCR 4MOTION with DSG.
The Tiguan R-Line also bites the dust to be replaced with the Tiguan R-Line Tech adding Area Views, Park Assist, Keyless and electric tailgate, with VW asserting you’ll save almost £1,300. The new Tiguan R-Line Tech starts at £33,150 for the 150 PS 1.5-litre TSI EVO version, rising to £38,335 for the new 230PS version.
That new 230PS version is an additional petrol option, delivering 227bhp, and comes with 4MOTION and DSG ‘box, hits 62mph in 6.3 seconds and (officially) does 36.7mpg.
The new Volkdswagen Tiguan models will be in VW’s showrooms this month and apply to both the regular Tiguan and the 7-seat Tiguan Allspace.
