Skoda Kamiq SUV revealed in design sketch
The new Skoda Kamiq – Skoda’s new small SUV – is previewed in a design sketch ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
Last week we learned that Skoda had run out of inspiration for model names that start with ‘K’ and end with ‘Q’ as it announced the new smaller SUV on the way would be called the Skoda Kamiq, a name already used for a similar model in China. To be entirely fair to Skoda, it could be that they plan to deliver the European Kamiq as a replacement for the Chinese version – built on a different platform – in the fullness of time. We’ll have to wait and see.
But the Skoda Kamiq for the UK and Europe is on the way, and today we get the first design sketches to give us an idea of what to expect, although you need to attach a ‘production version’ filter to your eyeballs when you look at the sketch Skoda has released to see what we’ll actually get.
Despite the artistic license in the sketch, it’s clear the new Kamiq will inherit styling cues from the Karoq and Kodiak, and from the Skoda Vision X Concept we saw last year.
Skoda are keen to point out that the new Kamiq has “balanced proportions and timeless design” and that it comes with new two-part LED headlights – a first for Skoda – as well as ‘SKODA’ spelt out on the tailgate instead of a logo.
The new Skoda Kamiq will be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
