Audi AI:me teased
The Audi AI:me – Audi’s view of a future autonomous city car – is teased in a design sketch ahead of a debut at the Shanghai Motor Show.
You might be forgiven for thinking that the Audi AI:me Concept – teased ahead of a reveal at the Shanghai Motor Show – is yet another upcoming electric car concept from yet another VW Group. Well, it is, but it’s not anything imminent. The Audi AI:me looks, from what we can discern from the sketch Audi has sent, like a slightly futuristic Audi take on the whole VW ID electric car thing, with bits of Audi design round the nose and looking, to our eyes, like a slightly squashed take on the old Audi A2.
Audi aren’t saying much at all about the AI:me ahead of its debut on the floor at Shanghai, but it’s clearly an electric car concept, and Audi will be using it to showcase the AI learning capabilities it will have (technology of the future permitting) as we transition to the inevitable point where we’re all running round cities in autonomous electric pods.
It makes sense to deliver a concept for an electric autonomous car aimed at transporting bodies round mega cities in Shanghai, but it’s really just future imagining as far as we can tell.
All will be revealed as the Shanghai Motor Show kicks off on 15 April.
