Jaguar Land Rover launches ‘THE OUT’ to rent a Land Rover Discovery Sport in London

Jaguar Land Rover launches ‘THE OUT’ through its InMotion arm to deliver weekend rentals of Land Rover Discovery Sports in London.

Jaguar Land Rover’s InMotion arm was set up a couple of years ago to go and play with ‘Mobility’ start-ups, seeking to find new ways to offer mobility in a rapidly changing car market.

The InMotion venture now boasts a plethora of Apps and projects to get drivers mobile, from ARC electric motorcycles to Urgent.ly offering global digital roadside assistance by way of stuff like the Transit planning App for planning urban journeys in the US to Lyft, the ride sharing company.

Now InMotion has a new venture as it tries to find a way to get in to the heads and wallets of drivers who don’t own a car – ‘THE OUT’.

THE OUT is pitched at the 41 per cent of Londoners who don’t own a car but have enough in the bank to enjoy weekends away from the capital, so Land Rover are pitching a weekend rent of a Land Rover Discovery Sport so they can head for the seaside in style, with prices starting from £295 for the weekend (that’s £195 for the first day and £100 a day thereafter).

THE OUT App will allow renters to book the car (Land Rovers has 50 Discovery Sports available) and have it delivered anywhere in zones 1-3 as well as Gatwick, Heathrow and City airports.

It seems Land Rover only want to offer THE OUT to owners of iPhones, because the App is iOS only. which seems a little short-sighted.
