New Land Rover Defender uncovered again
The new Land Rover Defender has been uncovered again, this time on a grabbed photo of the instrument panel of the new Defender.
Yesterday, we had what looked like a strong clue to how the new Land Rover Defender will look when we had a photo of Lego’s take on the new Defender. Now we get another look at the new Defender thanks to a spy photo of the dash panel of the new Defender showing the graphic Land Rover delivers, just as many cars now do.
As such, it’s not the most detailed view, but it does confirm the new Defender retains the boxy shape of the original, complete with flat tailgate and rear-mounted spare wheel.
Land Rover probably won’t thank us for saying so, but the profile of the new Defender also doesn’t look a million miles away from the DC100 Concept we saw getting on for a decade ago, although there is only so much you can do to a box to make it look different.
It seems clear LR are aiming to deliver a car which is all things to all men, retaining the boxy look of the original but with cues from the current Land Rover book of design, as well as everything from utilitarian to performance and luxury models.
Let’s hope it’s not a compromise too far.
