Mazda appears to have updated the Mazda2 for 2010 if pictures from their new factory in Thailand are anything to go by.
We’re back on the same tack as the Evo X upgrades for 2010. This time it’s the Mazda2, which Mazda has been telling us has started production in Thailand. Not earth-shattering news, I’m sure you’ll agree. But they sent us a picture of the Mzda2 coming off the production lines in Thailand – and it’s changed.Does this new nose – which follows the theme of the very good Mazda3 – forecast an update for the Mazda2 in the rest of the world that hasn’t happened yet? It seems more than likely. It would be very odd for Mazda to produce the Mazda2 in Thailand with a nose that matches the Mazda3, and then leave it alone for the rest of the world.
But there is no more detail forthcoming from Mazda. We assume that there will have been a few other cosmetic tweaks inside and out if this is a 2010 update for the Mazda2. But the nose is about all we can tell from the picture.
I suppose we’ll have to wait for Mazda to put the Mazda2 on its stand at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month to find out for sure. Unless you’re reading this from Mazda in Thailand. In which case do please tell us in the comments or drop us an email.
