Nissan Pixo City EV REVEALED as a ‘Twingo Twin’

The new Nissan Pixo is revealed as Nissan’s take on the Renault Twingo, with a 161-mile range and expected to cost under £20k.

We had a bit of a tease for the Nissan Pixo as a new compact City EV a couple of weeks ago, and now it’s here as a Nissan take on the Renault Twingo, just as the Nissan Micra is the Nissan take on the Renault 5. Oh, and let’s not forget the Dacia Spring is also part of the Renault/Nissan badge engineering game.

So it’ll come down to what you prefer the look of when it comes to choosing your City EV, and on that front Nissan has done a pretty good job of giving the Pixo its own identity, and although the middle of the Pixo is Twingo, the front and back get Nissan-ised.

That means new LED headlights, bumper and bonnet at the front; new bumper, lights and window at the back and new ‘Pixel’ alloys up to 18″; and an interior which is pretty much Twingo, with the sliding back seats still in place and different colourways on offer.

Just like the Twingo, the Pixo comes with a very modest 27.5kWh battery promising range of 161 miles, but charging speeds at 50kW are lower than the Twingo, and 0- 62 mph in 12.1 seconds from its 80bhp motor.

The new Nissan Pixo is expected to go on sale in the UK at the end of the year, with prices as low as £18k.
