Afzal Kahn’s Chelsea Truck Company has turned its attention to the new Suzuki Jimny, delivering a mini Land Rover Defender and Mercedes G-Wagen.
A week ago, we revealed that a Japanese tuning company, DAMD, has been busy creating very appealing body kits for the new Suzuki Jimny to turn it in to a mini Land Rover Defender or a mini Mercedes G-Wagen. And very good they looked too.
But that arrival of the new Jimny has also spurred on a UK equivalent to the DAMD mods, with Afzal Kahn’s Chelsea Tractor titivators deciding to turn their attention from six-figure SUV creations to something rather more affordable, with their Land Rover Defender and Mercedes G-Wagen takes on the new Jimny planned.
Chelsea ‘Tractor’ Company say the plans are still evolving for their new creations, but will include a wide body style kit, wide wheel arches, LED headlights, new front grille, quad exhaust, perforated leather, branded sill plates and vented pedals.
It’s testament to the appeal of the new Jimny that tuners seem to be lining up to gild the lily, with Khan reckoning that prices for the new Jimny Defender and G-Wagen will start at around £24,995.
The only fly in the ointment for the plans to turn out mini Defenders and G-Wagens is the shortage of the donor Jimny – Suzuki are already struggling to cover demand in Japan, never mind the UK.
