A tease image of the new Aston Martin Red Bull Hypercar
Aston Martin and F1 race team Red Bull have joined forces to create the ultimate hypercar – project AM-RB 001 – expected to arrive in 2018 and cost £2,000,000.
There has been talk for a long time that Aston Martin and Red Bull were planning a collaboration on something interesting, and this is it – the Ultimate Hypercar.Revealing the news at the Australian Grand Prix, it was also revealed that Red Bull’s F1 cars will carry the Aston Martin wings this season to celebrate the collaboration.
With work already underway on the new car, design falls to Red Bull’s legendary Adrian Newey and Aston Martin’s Marek Reichman and, it’s said, will represent the “ultimate blend of cutting edge F1 technology with Aston Martin’s signature car design”. Which certainly sounds an enticing prospect.
Aston Martin and Red Bull are giving little away at this stage, but it does seem likely the new Aston Hypercar will use the latest V12 engine, electric motors and some form of hybrid KERS from F1 to create a monster of a track car that’s also road legal.
Aston Martin’s Reichman said:
We are in the process of developing a hypercar that combines the latest in aerodynamics from F1 and the stunning design language of an Aston Martin sports car.
The opportunity to collaborate with Adrian (Newey) and Red Bull Advanced Technologies will be a fascinating experience for everyone involved. Unconstrained by F1 regulations, we have a unique chance to create a car in its most efficient form that will represent the ultimate fusion of art and technology.
Not only are Aston Martin and Red Bull aiming to create the ultimate hypercar, it will also be one of the most expensive and exclusive. It seems only around 100 will be built and will cost in the region of £2,000,000, and although not expected to launch until 2018 we should get our first look in the coming months.
