Bentley Continental GT Number 9 Edition
The Bentley Continental GT Number 9 Edition is a limited Edition Bentley celebrating 100 years of Bentley and paying homage to the ‘Blower’ Bentley.
Bentley is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a special limited edition car – the Bentley Continental GT Number 9 Edition – which celebrates by paying homage to the original ‘Blower’ Bentley.Perhaps the best known Bentley of all time, the original “Blower” Bentley 4 ½ litre wasn’t actually an official Bentley, but one with a big supercharger bolted on by Tim Birkin to give the big Bentley the horses to take on Mercedes. Still, it’s a famous Bentley.
Unsurprisingly, this new Continental GT Number 9 Edition comes in Viridian Green (you can also have Beluga Black) which extends to the 21″ alloys, a big number ‘9’ on the grille (Birkin’s race number) and carbon fibre pack.
Inside there’s more green or black for the leather, turned aluminium on the centre console, 18 carat gold for the switchgear and Jaeger dials. There’s even a piece of Birkin’s seat in a backlit resin display case, removed from his car during a restoration.
Under the skin the Continental GT Number 9 Edition gets the same 6.0 litre twin-turbo W12 as the regular Conti, good for 626bhp going to all four wheels through an eight-speed auto and hitting 62mph in 3.6 seconds.
Bentley are only building 100 Continental GT Number 9 Edition models, and although there are no prices yet don’t expect to be able to buy one for under £200k.
