Honda Accord AXED – no replacement expected

The Honda Accord is to be axed in the UK and Europe by the end of 2014 with no replacement planned as Honda decide the traditional saloon is now unworkable.

The Honda Accord seems to have been around forever as a competent, but rather unexciting, traditional saloon and estate appealing to a very traditional market place of older drivers and corporate fleets.

But the car market has changed considerably in recent years and demand for the traditional saloon and estate car have waned to such an extent that Honda has decided the Accord is no longer worth the effort.

So, with effect from the start of 2015, the Honda Accord is being withdrawn from sale in the UK and Europe and there seem to be no plans to replace it.

Instead, Honda look to be doing what Nissan did a few years ago and are eschewing a traditional part of the car market in favour of crossovers and SUVs, a market that is still growing strongly and one car buyers find offers a broader range of abilities than the normal saloon or estate.

In future, your choices from Honda are going to be SUV/Crossover models or hatchbacks, with cars like the new Honda H-RV compact SUV making the running on sales.
