Citroen Cxperience Concept – heading for the Paris Motor Show

The Citroen Citroen Cxperience Concept is revealed ahead of a debut at the Paris Motor Show as a look at Citroen’s hybrid family car future.

It’s only a month or so until Citroen’s home car show – the 2016 Paris Motor Show – focuses the eyes of the world’s petrolheads on the French capital, so Citroen has come up with a new concept – and Citroen do do good concept – with this, the Citroen Cxperience Concept.

Looking just like a Citroen concept should – barking mad, over the top and far too interesting to ever make production – the Cxperience is more about pointing at future design direction and powerpalnts to come than previewing a new Citroen C6.

To that end the Cxperience looks like the flash low-slung brother to the boxy, practical Cactus, with a floating roof and slots for headlights, enormous alloys and suicide back doors.

Inside is just as much a concept special as the exterior, with its square steering wheel and flat touchscreens abounding to control everything, as well as flowing bleached wood and quirky lemon seats. It’s all good concept stuff.

Under the bonnet is less dreaming concept and more reality to come, with a 200bhp petrol engine (for the front axle) joining forces with an 80kWh electric motor (for the back axle) and driven through an eight-speed auto ‘box for a total of around 300bhp, enough to be lively (Citroen aren’t saying) and with the promise of ridiculous official economy numbers and a 37 mile EV range.

The Citroen Cxperience Concept won’t make production, but it does look like Citroen are going to use the Cactus quirky take on design and fold it to fit everything, from city car to sleek sports car by way of the SUV.

And quirky Citroen properly back in play we approve of enormously.
