Volkswagen Golf Mk 8 design sketch
The latest iteration of the VW Golf – the Volkswagen Golf Mk 8 – will debut this month, ahead of which we get official tease images from VW.
It’s taken Volkswagen a while to get round to promoting the arrival of the new Golf Mk 8, so involved where they with proclaiming the new electric ID 3 the future of VW.But with the new Golf finally debuting later this month, VW has decided they better start doing a bit of promo for a car which, whatever VW wishes, will be the mainstay of the brand for many years to come.
Looking through the inevitable sleekness of the design sketches VW has sent, we see a VW Golf which still looks like you’d expect a Golf to look, but with a bit of a hint at the front of the ID 3 with new shape bumpers and headlights and what looks like a thin light strip running across the front.
The interior sketch (below) indicates bigger changes are afoot for the Mk 8 Golf, with a digital instrument panel flowing in to a central infotainment screen and eschewing physical buttons in the process, and promising lots of connectivity and digitalisation.
We can also expect a new range of engines for the new Golf; hybrids, plug-in hybrids and 48V electrics, but there will be no new electric Golf – that’s now the realm of the ID 3.
The Volkswagen Golf Mk 8 will debut in Wolfsburg on 24 October 2019.
