Ford Focus RS with Mountune tweaks hits 62mph in 4.5s
Ford Performance has revealed a Mountune engine upgrade for the new Ford Focus RS, delivering 370bhp and up to 376lb/ft of torque for £899.
The new Ford Focus RS has been something of a hit, with more than 4,600 sold in the UK thanks to its 345bhp, four-wheel drive, torque vectoring, drift mode and appealing price. But even the best can be made better, and we’d be surprised if any of the approaching five thousand UK buyers will be able to resist the new Mountune engine upgrade for the RS, revealed by Ford Performance today, especially as it costs a relatively modest £899.
The Mountune numbers are rather appealing too, with an extra 25bhp and 52lb/ft of torque meaning an impressive 0.2 seconds improvement in the 0-62mph, which at 4.5 seconds Ford is keen you know is quicker than a Porsche 911 Carrera. A nice little boast.
The Mountune kit does its stuff by fiddling with the ECU, fitting a high-performance air filter and bespoke crossover duct with high performance silicone hoses and revised re-circulation valve.
Tyrone Johnson, Ford Performance Manager, said:
Ford has a proud history of working with Mountune to unleash even more power from our hot hatchbacks for dedicated performance enthusiasts.
Boosting power to 375 PS launches the already class-leading Focus RS even further ahead of the field.
The Mountune upgrade, co-developed by Mountune and Ford Performance, can be carried out by any Mountune Ford Dealer in just 1.5 hours, without affecting your warranty.
