Geneva debut for Lexus UX Compact SUV
The Lexus UX – a compact SUV previewed with a concept at the 2016 Paris Motor Show – looks set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show in production guise as Lexus expands its SUV range.
The Lexus UX Concept debuted at the Paris Motor Show in 2016, and looked to be a perfect compact SUV to extend the Lexus range of SUVs, and probably replace the CT in the line-up.At the time, the UX was nothing more than a look at a new design direction for Lexus, going further down the angular design already seen on the NX and aimed at a younger demographic.
But the UX received a lot of praise, not just from press and punters, but also from Lexus dealers, keen to have a funky, appealing compact SUV ideal for attracting younger buyers to the marque.
So it was no surprise when we learnt the UX was going in to production, although we had expected it to arrive by now, probably at the Tokyo Motor Show.
But now the rumour mill is in overdrive with reports that the UX – a Lexus take on the appealing Toyota C-HR – is heading for a debut at Geneva, and with Lexus already getting trademarks for UX 200, UX250 and UX250h, it would seem almost certain to happen.
And it could do wonders for Lexus sales, both here, in Europe and in the US.
