Land Rover Defender Upgrade Kit
Land Rover Classic delivers new Upgrade Kits for the Land Rover Defender 90 and 100, inspired by the V8 Defender, to improve on-road handling.
All the Land Rover Defender news at the moment may be on the new Defender due to debut in the next month or so. But there’s a whole world of Defender owners out there who just don’t care; they just want the old Defender. It’s a big target market for Land Rover with their ‘Classic’ division – as evidenced by the Defender Works V8 Edition – so Land Rover has decided to cash-in on that success with upgrade kits for the Defender 90 and 100 from 2007, aimed at improving on-road comfort and manners without changing off-road ability. Although they don’t offer a V8 transplant.
The full upgrade kit includes an ECU boost to 160bhp (a bit short of the V8), upgraded brake discs and calipers, upgraded coil springs and dampers, upgraded ant-toll bars, links and bushes, 18″ Sawtooth alloys, BF Goodrich All-Terrain tyres and Classic Works badging.
If you don’t want to go the whole hog, you can opt for the Handling Upgrade Package, which does without the power boost, or Defender Suspension Upgrade Kit which just tweaks the suspension.
Prices range from £432 each for the Sawtooth alloys up to £17k for the full upgrade kit, but the full Monty includes fitting by Land Rover Classic and a factory Tour.
