Lexus LF-SA Concept teased for Geneva 2015
It took Lexus a long time to start building more compact cars, but the CT200 arrived at Paris in 2010 as an entry-level Lexus with a different demographic to the normal older male audience Lexus usually has.
It’s been rumoured for some time that Lexus wanted to go more compact than the CT200, and the LF-SA Concept appears to be the first look at a car that probably won’t turn in to a production model for at least a couple of years.
But what could arrive sooner is the grill the LF-SA is wearing, which has similar bold dimensions to the latest Lexus grill, but instead of spindles it uses angular struts. That could find its way on to Lexus models long before the LF-SA heads for production.
When it does, we’d expect it to be based on the Toyota Yaris platform and offer a proper luxury take on the compact Toyota, complete with small turbo petrol and hybrid engines.
However, it’s not beyond imagination that Lexus has done with the LF-SA what Aston Martin did with the Cygnet, and turned the Toyota iQ in to an expensive city run-around for wealthy city dwellers.
All will be revealed at Geneva next month.
