Lexus LFA Roadster
The plan for Toyota to chop the top of the LFA to create a Lexus LFA Roadster has been running round the rumour mill for a while, but Toyota has yet to confirm it.
That said, we reported back in October that Toyota were planning a launch of the Lexus LFA Roadster in 2014, and unlike the LFA Roadster – which was limited to 500 cars worldwide – Lexus were going to build as many LFA Roadsters as the market could swallow.
That report seems to have been given added credence by the surprise appearance of an LFA Roadster at a drifting even in Tokyo, staged right next door to the Makuhari Messe Centre where the Tokyo Auto Salon – a huge after market car show – is in full swing.
It’s always possible that this LFA Roadster is a custom job by a wealthy Japanese owner who’s a bit handy with an angle grinder – especially as the roll-over hoop seems to be a bit Heath Robinson – but it’s also not unreasonable to think that this is a Lexus LFA Roadster from Toyota, just ramping up a bit of viral interest.
Whichever it is, it’s good to see – and hear – the V10 drop-top strutting its stuff against Japanese drift cars.
