Lexus NX Compact SUV: OFFICIAL

The Lexus NX Compact SUV is officially revealed ahead of a Beijing Motor Show debut with a choice of three engines and an NX F Sport version.

Last weekend Lexus teased the production version of their new compact SUV – the Lexus NX – ahead of its debut, and this morning we get the official reveal and details of specification and powertrains.

Aimed at compact SUVs like the BMW X3 and Audi Q5, the production version of the Lexus NX may have been toned down somewhat from the LF-NX Concept, but it’s still a bold design and keeps a degree of the angularity of the concept; it’ll stand out in the sector – no bad thing.

As you’d expect, the big, bold Lexus grill makes its presence felt, with slim LED headlights, big wheelarches, statement alloys (17″ or 18″), sculpted bonnet, sharp creases on the flanks and a back end that’s as angular as the front.

Lexus say the interior of the NX is designed like a sports car to match the angularity of the exterior with a thick-rimmed steering wheel, bold centre console, lashings of leather (in the top models), big infotainment screen and tech like wireless charging for Smartphones, touchpad controller and heads-up display. It all looks Lexus good.

Engine option will be the expected Lexus 300h hybrid, but there will also be an NX 200t with a 2.0 litre 4-cylinder turbo and a regular NX200 with a naturally aspirated 2.0 litre petrol engine. We don’t yet know which options the UK will get, but we’d expect the 300h and 200t are a certainty.

The Lexus NX will debut ate Beijing later this month and go on sale before the end of 2014. And it looks like Lexus have got it right.
