McLaren has announced winter wheel and tyre options for the Sports Series cars – 540C, 570S and 570GT – to make their supercars winter-proof.
The nights have drawn in, December is almost here, the snow is falling across a lot of the UK and there’s ice in the mornings even in the south. Which is all much too early.
So if you have a supercar parked in the garage, the time has probably come to accept that’s it for fun blats until the leaves start to come back on the trees and the mercury starts to rise again in the Spring.
The exception to that rule has normally only been the Porsche 911, but now McLaren are keen to prove that their supercars can be used 365 days a year with a new winter wheel and tyre option for the Sports Series cars – 540C, 570S and 570GT.
The new package has been put together with Pirelli to deliver a new winter wheel and tyre package with four 14-spoke forged alloys with Stealth Finish shod with Pirelli MC Sottozero 3 winter tyres.
The tyres, not surprisingly, come with the ‘MC’ seal and, say McLaren, are effective in wet and dry conditions and can cut stopping distance by 20 per cent on snowy roads.
Carl Whipp, McLaren’s Aftersales Director, said:
Choosing the right type of tyre to suit seasonal weather and road conditions should be a priority for every McLaren driver wanting to enjoy their car safely all-year round.
Regardless of whether winter tyres are a legal requirement, having them ready and waiting on a second set of wheels will allow customers to switch to the optimum tyre choice quickly and easily when winter arrives – which is why we have teamed up with our tyre partner, Pirelli, to offer the McLaren Winter Wheels and Tyres set exclusively through McLaren Retailers.
We’re looking forward to seeing a McLaren or two out playing when the snow arrives.
