McLaren Special Operations (MSO) has created a run of just 10 570S cars for a US McLaren dealer inspired by the 570S GT4 race cars – the McLaren MXO X.
The new McLaren Senna may be the ultimate road-going track special, but that doesn’t mean McLaren can’t offer another, more affordable, track-day car for buyers. Step forward the McLaren MSO X.
Commissioned by McLaren Newport Beach, McLaren Special Operations (MSO) has built the 10 cars to look like the 570S GT4 race cars, and they’ve all now been delivered to their new owners at an event in Las Vegas.
Each of the 10 cars gets a livery inspired by the F1 GTR cars from the 1990s, complete with a pylon mounted rear wing, like the 570S GT4, for an extra 100kg of downforce, and a gooseneck carbon fibre roof snorkel (just like the F1 GTR Longtail).
Other changes include front dive planes,an MSO Titanium Super Sport exhaust, Pirelli P Zero Corsa rubber, a 570 S GT4 bonnet complete with air intakes for better aerodynamics as well as lots of satin finish carbon fibre and a unique rear bumper.
Inside is pretty minimalist with exposed carbon fibre Monocell, stowage space for a helmet, 6-point colour matched racing harness and McLaren Track Telemetry. But you do get race air conditioning.
Pietro Frigerio, McLaren Newport Beach Dealer Principle, said:
The aim of this project was to have a serious track car that could still be driven on the road and this finished project screams ‘race car’ to the casual onlooker.
To have the MSO X project go from renderings at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last July to the 10 magnificent supercars that we handed over to our excited clients today, is nothing short of amazing.
You may be too late to grab one of the MSO X, but MSO would be happy to build one like it for you. Assuming you have rather deep pockets.
