Mercedes A 45 AMG: Price from £37,845 – first deliveries August

Mercedes has open the order book for the A45 AMG with prices starting from £37,845 and first UK deliveries in August 2013.

The new Mercedes A45 AMG promises to be the first small Mercedes to put a dent in BMW’s baby M cars, and now you can place your order.

The order book for the A45 AMG has opened, and with prices starting from £37,845 it promises yo be a lot of bang for your money, with 181bhp per litre from its 2.0 litre 4-cylinder and 0-62mph coming up in just 4.6 seconds.

As we already know, the A45 gets an AMG body kit with new front bumper, front splitter, gloss black sill extensions, new back bumper and a set of 18″ or 19″ alloys.

Inside is AMG tweaked too with AMG Performance seats with red stitching, red seat belts, AMG badges, carbon weave trim and red leather. DAB and Audio 20 with iPod and Bluetooth connectivity come as standard.

Power is fed to all four wheels through Mercedes’ Speedshift DCT 7-speed sports transmission and AMG 4MATIC 4WD and you can play with the metal paddle shifters behind the steering wheel for instant changes

The starting point may be just under £38k, but by the time you’ve troubled the options list for stuff like the AMG Aerodynamics Pack (£1530) and AMG Performance exhaust (£530) never mind the endless array of technology and comfort options, we can’t see too many A45 AMGs leaving Mercedes UK showrooms without nudging the £50k mark.

Still, the Mercedes A45 AMG is a very appealing  package.
