2018 Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC
The new Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC joins the regular C-Class saloon and estate with cosmetic updates, but it also get an additional 23bhp from its 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine.
The 2018 Mercedes C-Class facelift was revealed last month, and now it’s the turn of the ‘lesser’ AMG C-Class – the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC – to get its 2018 titivates. The AMG C 43 sees a tweak or two to its 3.0 litre V6 turbo to deliver 385bhp (up by 23bhp), with torque delivered a cross a wider range – 2,500 to 5,000 rpm.
Mercedes are claiming the same performance figures for the more powerful V6, although the wider band of torque should make the new C 43 feel a bit livelier on the go.
As well as the additional power, the C 43 gets an update for its driving modes with the addition of a ‘Slippery’ mode – complete with snowflake symbol – for when road conditions are a bit short on traction.
The cosmetic stuff includes a new grille, new bumpers, quad tail pipes, boot spoiler and aero tweaks, and there’s an optional AMG Styling Pack which adds front splitter, side skirts and gloss black details. There’s also new AMG Aero wheels.
Interior tweaks include the optional AMG Performance seats and Artico upholstery, with the updated infotainment coming with the E-Class’s widescreen dials.
Mercedes hasn’t revealed UK prices for the new C 43 AMG, but expect a small increase on the current car’s £46k.
