Mercedes AMG C43 Estate (pictured) adds to the C-Class range
The Mercedes AMG C43 arrives as an ‘almost’ AMG in both Saloon and Estate guises, and 4MATIC four-wheel drive arrives for the diesel C-Class.
As Mercedes-AMG roll out the ‘almost full fat’ AMG ’43’ models, the latest recipient is the C-Class, with both a C43 Saloon and C43 Estate arriving in Mercedes UK dealer showrooms, with first customer cars expected in September. Both the saloon and estate versions of the C43 get the same twin-turbo 3.0 litre V6 as the C43 Coupe, which means 362bhp and 383lb/ft of torque, enough to get the saloon to 62mph in 4.7 seconds, with the C43 estate 0.2s behind.
The C43s also come with Mercedes 9-speed automatic gearbox and 4MATIC four-wehel drive, which will certainly help put the car’s power down more effectively.
Standard equipment for both models includes leather (well, Mercedes fake leather) with red stitching, black 18″ alloys, black mirror housings and silver brake calipers with ‘AMG’ lettering.
The C43 AMG saloon costs from £44,460 and the estate from £45,250, although you can throw in more money by ticking option boxes like AMG Performance Seats at £1,405 and AMG Performance Exhaust at £1,000.
Mercedes diesel C 220d and C 250d now with 4MATIC four-wheel drive
Mercedes is also extending the availability of its 4MATIC four-wheel drive system to diesel-engined versions with Sport and AMG Line trims, which means you can grab a C 220d 4MATIC or C 250d 4MATIC for £1500 more than the rear-wheel drive versions.
It’s a good move by Mercedes to offer the reassurance of four-wheel drive in the C-Class diesels, but be aware there is an emissions and economy price to pay for the less efficient drivetrain.
Mercedes C-Class SE Executive
Mercedes has also added a new model line to the C-Class, with the new SE Executive adding 17″ alloys, Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC, Garmin Map Pilot Sat Nav, heated front seats, split folding back seats and chrome roof rails (on the estate). The SE Executive costs £1,295 more than the regular SE.
