The Mercedes-AMG GLE63 S Coupe has made its first appearance at the Detroit Auto Show, and it looks set to take on the BMW X6M with a fulsome 569bhp from its 5.5 litre turbo V8.
All that power goes to all four wheels – with the 4MATIC setup offering a font/rear 40:60 split normally – using AMG’s seven-speed 7G-Tronic Speedshift Plus gerabox.
The chassis is basically that of the ML 63 AMG with the AirMatic suspension set up with variable damping control and self-levelling, and an active curve system that uses hydraulic motors on the stabiliser bars for additional body control.
Cosmetically, there are 22″ alloys and a more aggressive set of bumpers, with big air intakes and aerodynamic flicks at the front, a four tailpipe exhaust and an interior that comes with a flat-bottomed steering wheel, carbon fibre trim, AMG logos and mats and a revised instrument cluster.
The Mercedes-AMG GLE63 S Coupe will go ons ale in summer 2015, with prices probably somewhere north of the ML 63 AMG’s £87,000 price tag.
