Mercedes Concept A Saloon previews the next generation Mercedes A-Class
The Mercedes Concept A Sedan has been revealed at the Shanghai Motor Show, showing a new A-Class saloon and previewing the next generation A-Class.
Mercedes is previewing the next generation A-Class with this – The Mercedes Concept A Sedan – revealed at the Shanghai Motor Show and the expansion of the A-Class range to include a saloon.
This concept is a bit longer than the current A-Class, although it’s narrower and taller, and comes with the recent Mercedes must have of a feature Panamerica grille, which probably tells us this Concept A is an AMG Concept A.
That next-generation A-Class AMG will likely deliver 4Matic 4Wd and up to 400bhp, as well as the current range of four-cylinder petrols and diesels and a new petrol-electric plug-in hybrid with an EV range of 30 miles or so.
Mercedes say the Concept A heralds the end of ‘Creases’, saying:
Our Concept A Sedan shows, that the time of creases is over.
With its perfect proportions and a sensual treatment of surfaces with reduced lines, it is the next milestone of Sensual Purity and has the potential to introduce a new design era.
It looks likely this is the foundation for the next-generation A-Class, expected in 2018, with this A-Class saloon joining the A-Class hatch, CLA and GLA in a new, expanded range.
