Mercedes has released official pictures of the 2010 / 2011 Mercedes E Class Cabriolet. On sale early 2010 in Europe.
Well, it had to happen soon. The reveal of the new Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet, that is. We’ve had the teaser bits on the new AirCap system a few days ago which pretty much showed the car in production form, so Mercedes has got their act together, sent us a heap of pictures and a press release.
The 2010 E Class Cabrio (2011 in the US) will go on sale in Europe in the New Year. Based on the E-Class Coupe, it features redesigned rear wings and boot lid and comes complete with a soft-top rather than a retractable tin-top, as you would expect from a four-seat Mercedes convertible.
As we reported last week, the E-Class Cabrio gets the AirCap, a clever – if not terribly attractive – device that sits at the top of the windscreen to divert the airflow 20cm higher, leaving rear seat passengers un-buffeted by wind when the top is down.
Also on offer -although not standard – is the Airscarf system first seen on the SLK, which feeds warm air round the neck to keep you warm on a cold day with the top down. Add that to the AirCap and there’s going to be precious little reason to ever have the top up. Real all-season, open-topped motoring.
Expect to see the full compliment of engines offered in the E-Class Cabrio, including everything from the E220CDI to the E500 and all points in between.
The detail we have so far is not huge, and Mercedes hasn’t sent us any prices. But they will before too long.
