2019 Mercedes GLC Coupe Facelift
The 2019 Mercedes GLC Coupe – Mercedes’ competition for the BMW X4 – gets a mild cosmetic makeover, revamped interior and new engines in a mid-life makeover.
A few weeks ago Mercedes revealed a facelift for the GLC, a facelift that made you have to look quite hard to see exactly what Mercedes had done to titivate their X3 competitor. So it’s not exactly a surprise to see the GLC’s ‘lifestyle’ sibling – the GLC Coupe – arrive with a similar (‘what have they changed?’) makeover. The 2019 Mercedes GLC Coupe does get changes, difficult though they are to spot, with a slightly different front bumper, a new grille, redesigned exhaust tips and diffuser and…that’s about it.
Inside there are more changes than the outside, just like the GLC, with Mercedes’ latest ‘Hey Mercedes’ MBUX Multimedia with a 10.25″ centre screen, voice and gesture control, 12.3″ digital instrument panel, titivated dashboard and a new air vent design.
Engine options at launch are a single mild hybrid petrol and a pair of diesels, all with 4MATIC 4WD, with the 2.0 litre GLC 300 getting the same 254bhp 48v engine as the new C-Class. If you still want a GLC diesel, you have the choice of a 220d with 191bhp and 300d with 242bhp.
It means the only 2019 GLC Coupe you’ll be able to buy is a version that’s about the show not the go, but expect at least a GLC43 to arrive before too long.
