Mercedes GLC FACELIFT – mild cosmetic titivations, new Tech and new engines

2019 Mercedes GLC Facelift
The Mercedes GLC gets a minor cosmetic facelift for 2019, but there are more significant updates to its engine offerings and technology.
It’s getting on for four years since the Mercedes GLC SUV arrived, so it’s time for a facelift. But don’t spend too long staring at the photo of the facelifted GLC (above) because the changes aren’t exactly significant. They amount to the lower end of facelift fodder, with revised LED lights, titivated grilles, bits of extra chrome, different exhaust tips, new paint colours and alloys.
Inside there’s a bit more going on, with new seats and the new generation Mercedes-Benz’s infotainment system (MBUX) with a pair of big screens, screens that can be made bigger still if you spend enough, the ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice control plus gesture control and new ambient lightning.

2019 Mercedes GLC Facelift Interior
As well as the stuff you can easily see, Mercedes has improved the driver assistance systems, with Active Emergency Stop, Active Parking, Active Lane Change, Active Speed Limit and even (optional) Trailer Manoeuvring Assist.
Despite the world falling out with diesel engines, Mercedes is still convinced it’s the right fuel for the GLC, so it’s not just a token single diesel offering for the facelifted GLC, but a GLC 200d with 161bhp, GLC 220d with 194bhp and GLC 300d with 242bhp, all with nine-speed auto ‘box and four-wheel drive. Petrol options are the GLC 200 with 194bhp and the GLC 300 with 242bhp, complete with 48V mild hybrid system.
Mercedes hope the tweaks to the GLC for 2019 are enough to keep it up with competition like the BMW X3 and Audio Q5.
