Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series and SLS AMG GT get UK price

Mercedes has revealed the UK prices for the SLS AMG GT and SLS Black Series. SLS AMG GT costs from £165,030 and the Black Series from £229,985

Mercedes is revamping their SLS supercar range, which means the arrival of two new models in the UK – the SLS AMG GT and SLS AMG Black Series – and some new prices and specifications.

The lesser of the two new offerings, the new SLS GT, will cost from £165,030 and gets an extra 20bhp over the standard SLS, taking its output to 591.bhp, with power driven to the rear wheels through the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT seven-speed ‘box, with 0-62mph taking 3.7 seconds on the way to a top speed of 199mph. If it matters, official economy is 21.4mpg and emissions 308g/km.

Standard specification includes nappa leather and Alcantara for the AMG performance steering wheel, designo black leather with red stitching, AMG mats, B&O BeoSound AMG, red seat belts, 19″ alloys at the front and 20″ alloys at the back, carbon fibre mirrors, red brake calipers and AMG GT badges.

Up the scale a bit at £229,985 comes the Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series which gets an even more appealing 631bhp, enough to get the Black Series to 62mph in 3.6 seconds.

Mercedes has cut the kerb weight of the Black Series by 70kg by using carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) for stuff like the bonnet and rear panel behind the sports seats and fitted ceramic brakes, bigger wheel arches, titanium exhaust and an electronically controlled diff lock.

Cosmetic tweaks include twin-spoke forged alloys, carbon fibre for the front splitter, rear wing and diffuser and a pair of chromed twin tailpipes, with the interior getting designo black leather and Alcantara AMG sports bucket seats – which extends all over the place – carbon fibre trim and COMAND.
