MINI has revealed the MINI Roadster, an open-topped, two-seater MINI which will be built in the UK.
This is the MINI we didn’t get to see – apart from a sketch of the Roadster on a poster – but MINI has revealed the MINI we all knew about anyway – the MINI Roadster Concept – which joins the MINI Coupe as the ‘Twin MINIs’ that will be produced in the UK.Just like the MINI Coupe. the MINI Roadster gets a chopped – but open in this case – top with a tilted back windscreen, although from the waist down the Roadster is pure MINI. But the Roadster is promising better handling with the roll over bar shifted forward to just beahind the front seats (there are no back seats) which should make the Roadster more rigid.
The interior gets a gimmicky dashboard – which still includes MINI’s ‘openometer’ – and adds ‘Nature Guard’, Gravity Indicator, Heart Beat, Buddy Radar (which shows you where other MINI drivers are – just what you’ve always wanted to know) and High Speed Shifter.
All you need to know – another niche from MINI with two seats and no roof. Oh, and without the back seats it’s got a bigger boot. But if you want the whole nine yards have a look at the MINI Roadster Press Release. And if you really want to you can have another look at the MINI. Two Untamed. Videos.
