Morgan Plus 8 Speedster celebrates 100 years of Morgan car production. Costs £69,995.

The Morgan Plus 8 Speedster is a limited edition Morgan built to celebrate 100 years of manufacturing at Morgan’s Pickersleigh Road site in Malvern.

Morgans may still look like Morgans did half a century and more ago, but under the skin lies a car capable of holding its own (most of the time) with cars from the modern er. And none more so than the Plus 8.

Now, to celebrate 100 years of building cars at their Pickersleigh Road factory in Malvern, worcestershire, Morgan has revealed a limited edition (although such is Morgan’s production numbers you could reasonably consider every Morgan a limited edition) of the Plus 8 – the Morgan Plus 8 Speedster.

Morgan say the Speedster is the latest evolution of the Plus 8 and offers an even more invigorating driving experience, inspired by a bygone era of stripped back, road going race cars.

Evoking a bygone era is one thing, but what powers the Plus 8 Speedster is far from old hat; a 4.8 litre BMW V8 with 367bhp, a ZF 6-speed auto ‘box and a 0-62mph of just 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 148mph make the Speedster properly quick.

And despite the old-fashioned looks, the SPeedster gets the latest in Morgan’s aluminium chassis developments to make sure it can handle the power on tap and boasts a power to weight ratio as good as anything from the ‘modern’ mera.

Morgan are offering a big list of optional extras and every Plus 8 will get eccentric styling features that will only be available on the 100 year anniversary models.

If you want on of the Plus 8 Speedsters it’ll cost you £69,995. But Morgan won’t be building very many.
