The 2013 Lexus IS – revealed at the Detroit Motor Show – gets its UK public debut at the Ideal Home Show at Earls Court.

The Ideal Home Show may not seem the obvious place for Lexus to show the new IS, but Lexus are the headline motor sponsors for the event and you can’t argue with the footfall; footfall that is probably predominantly bang on the Lexus target demographic.
And the target demographic for Lexus may be a bit surprised that the new IS is a chunk more dynamic looking than its predecessor, with statement looks – taking cues from the LF-CC Concept – that make the new IS a far more appealing prospect.
The order book for the new Lexus IS is already open, and Lexus are no doubt hoping that an outing at the Ideal Home Show will see more orders coming their way, and with prices starting at a sensible £26,495 for the entry-level IS 250 SE, and rising to £38,495 for the range-topping IS 300h Premier hybrid, the new IS covers most of the bases.
But as headline motor sponsor Lexus isn’t just sticking a lone IS in a corner but has the Lexus CT, RX and the mighty LFA on show too as well as a pair of Eddy Merckx carbon fibre road bikes. Lexus has also teamed up with Quiet Mark to build an acoustically ideal house.
The Ideal Home Show runs from today (15th March) to 1st April at Earls Court. And maybe the Lexus display will give the boys less reason to moan about being dragged along.

The new IS looks a decent effort from Lexus and the F sport version looks appealing. But what about a new IS F?

The official line is that an IS-F of the latest IS is not going to happen, but we’re not so sure.
We find it inconceivable that with the Lexus trying to imbue their cars with a bit more flair, sportiness and credibility as drivers’ cars that they won’t build a new IS-F. But it could well lose the V8 in favour of a turbo V6.
But if an IS-F is coming in the new IS it probably won’t be before 2015.
