New Nissan Micra finally available with entry-level 1.0 litre petrol engine in the UK

The new Nissan Micra, which went on sale in the UK in December, can now be had in the UK with the 1.0 litre naturally-aspirated, entry-level petrol engine.

The 2017 Nissan Micra arrived at last year’s Paris Motor Show, putting to bed the rather woeful model it replaced and putting the Micra back in to the frame in a competitive market.

The new Micra went on sale in the UK in December, and although we knew there was an entry-level engine option of a 1.0 litre naturally aspirated petrol with 71bhp, you couldn’t buy one.

But now Nissan has got there act together so buyers can get in to a new Nissan Micra at the bottom end, something Nissan say 20 per cent of Uk buyers have been waiting for.

So if that’s you, you can now get in to the new Micra Visia 1.0 litre for the headline starting price trumpeted at launch of £11,995. But was foes the most basic Micra offer?

Nissan say it offers “an excellent balance of performance and running costs”, with the naturally-aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine delivering official economy of 74.3mpg (which should mean 50mpg plus in the real world) and emissions of 103g/km. Although it will take a very leisurely 16.4 seconds to get to 62mph. 

The headline price for the 1.0 litre three-pot is for the Visia trim, although you can bag a Visia+ for £12.945 or an Acenta for £14,145, but if you want the posher Micras you’ll need to have the 0.9 litre turbo three-pot or 1.5 litre diesel.
