New Peugeot 3008 SUV OFFICIALLY revealed

The new Peugeot 3008 has been revealed as a proper Peugeot SUV, rather than an MPV, designed to challenge cars like the Nissan Qashqai.
In its place, Peugeot has delivered a new SUV on a new platform with a new interior, and the promise it will be a viable player in the congested SUV market with a wide choice of petrol and diesel engines, more room, raised ride height and a vastly improved interior.
The 3008 gets a digital 12.3″ instrument display in addition to the central 8″ infotainment touchscreen, increased interior space (an extra 24mm legroom and 36mm headroom in the back) despite the new 3008 being just 80mm longer and the same width as the old model. There’s Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a new sound system from French maker FOCAL.
Engine options are good, with petrol engines including the 1.2L PureTech with 128bhp and either manual or auto gearbox, and the 1.6L THP with 163bhp and an auto ‘box.
Diesel options are the 1.6 litre Blue HDi with 99bhp or 118bhp (with a choice of 5 or 6-speed manuals or six-speed auto), and the 2,0 litre BlueHdi with 148bhp or 178bhp with manual or auto gearbox.
Peugeot has fitted the new 3008 with Grip Control to tackle slippery stuff, there’s safety stuff like Auto Braking, City Safe, Blind Spot Monitoring, Birds-Eye camera and Adaptive Cruise and options like massaging seats, panoramic roof premium sound.
It all looks quite promising, and should take the fight not just to the Qashqai, but also to cars like the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage. And if it’s any where near as good to drive as the 308, the 3008 could be an impressive family SUV.
The new Peugeot 3008 will debut at the Paris Motor Show in September and go on sale at Peugeot’s UK dealers in November.
