The new Subaru WRX STI has had its European debut at the Geneva Motor Show ahead of going on sale in the UK Summer 2014. Costs from £28,995.

We actually had the reveal of the new Subaru WRX STI at the Detroit Motor Show earlier in the year, but Subaru’s supercar-challenging saloon car has arrived in Geneva for its European debut.
The new WRX STI may have lost some of its style from concept to production, but it does still offer cracking performance at an affordable price as a supercar toy for the Playstation generation.
But even though the styling is rather uninspiring, the mechanicals hold more than an appealing mix of performance and dynamics.
With the familiar 2.5 litre 4-cylinder engine now delivering 305bhp and 290lb/ft of torque – through all four wheels, of course – a stiffer and lighter body, torque vectoring and a longer wheelbase for a bit more room, the new WRX STI certainly looks promising.
The icing on the cake of better performance and dynamics is the starting price of £28,995 thanks to the weakening yen, a price that’s a chunk lower than the old WRX STI.
Subaru say the first UK allocation of STIs has already been sold, so if you want to get your hands on one you’d probably better make a beeline for your nearest Subaru dealers sooner rather than later.
Official on sale date for the new Subaru WRX STI is 1st May in the UK, with first customer cars arriving in September.
