Nissan Juke-R – first picture

Nissan Juke-R

Nissan Juke-R - the first official picture from Nissan

Although we’ve seen grabbed photos of the 520bhp Nissan Juke-R with the GT-R engine, we now have the first official Juke-R picture from Nissan.

With all things in the car world seemingly focused on fluffy bunnies and green halos, it’s great to see Nissan pushing the envelope at the other end with the Nissan Juke-R, a bonkers version  of Nissan’s compact SUV with the heart of Godzilla – the Nissan GT-R.

We first reported the Juke-R – which we dubbed ‘Super Juke’ – at the end of last month when we didn’t know whether the Juke-R would be a one-off or a production model.

But within weeks Nissan had come out and confessed our Juke-R story was real and that they really were working on a monster Juke with the heart of a Nissan GT-R.

And although Nissan has made it clear that there are no specific plans to turn the Juke-R in to a production model, they are sensibly building a pair of road-legal Juke-Rs – one in LHD, one in RHD – which holds the promise of a limited edition production run if the feedback is favourable. Which it is.

The Juke-R gets something around 520bhp from its GT-R sourced engine, and gets an aggressive body kit, much weight shedding and a much reworked suspension. All that should mean a Nissan Juke with sub 4 second 0-60mph – enough to frighten the pants of a Porsche Cayenne Turbo.

We should see just how impressive the Juke-R is when Nissan starts testing it next month.

I bought a Juke SV for my wife and after some tuning it is starting to come to life and is a kick in the ass to drive, especially in a mountain canyon. 400+ horsepower? OH HELL YEAH! And it looks way BADASS!

How much will this insanity cost? Is it cheaper than buying a GTR?

Didn’t think it was possible to make the ridiculous-looking Nissan Joke any dafter looking, but Nissan have proved me wrong. I am sure they will sell some; but who on earth would want to drive around in this monstrosity?
