Nissan Xmotion Concept
The Nissan Xmotion Concept has been revealed in Detroit, featuring a new bold design language and lots of tech – including a ‘Koi Carp’ personal assistant.
Nissan’s current crop of SUVs are quite taMe in design – even the Juke, which was once considered a bit ‘odd’ – but things look to be moving in a new direction if the Nissan Xmotion Concept, revealed in Detroit, is anything to go by.A more extreme look than the IMx Concept we saw in Tokyo last year, the Xmotion SUV gets jarring angles on every surface, a new take on Nissan’s Boomerang lights and V-Motion grille, and a set of alloys which look like something from Mad Max.
Inside there’s seating for six, in three rows, a centre console made of wood and seven screens – yes, seven – delivering a plethora of information.

The Nissan Xmotion interior boasts seven screens and chunks of wood
The screens can be controlled by gestures and eye movement – although there’s voice control too – and you ‘log-in’ to the car with your fingerprint, at which point your ‘Personal Assistant’ pops up in the guise of a Koi Carp.
The Koi jumps from screen to screen as you interact and, when the Xmotion is driving autonomously, acts as a ‘Guide’ to what’s going on and even finding points of interest en-route.
There’s nothing on what powers the Xmotion – the IMx Concept was an EV – but Nissan do say it comes with four-wheel drive.
But you can bet your boots there will be electricity in the mix if, or when, the Xmotion makes production.
