An original ‘Only Fools’ Reliant 3-wheeler up for grabs
An original Only Fools and Horses Reliant Regal three-wheeler, used in the iconic BBC sitcom, is up for grabs at Silverstone Auctions next month.
Not a day goes by without at least one episode of the iconic BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses airing, with the adventures of Del Boy, Rodney, Grandad and Uncle Albert still front and centre in the UK’s consciousness.Alongside the main protagonists, the other star of the show was the yellow, scruffy, knackered Reliant Regal three-wheeler (no, not a Reliant Robin – that was the ‘Car’ version) which appeared in just about every episode.
You won’t be surprised to learn that the Beeb used a number of Reliants over the course of Only Fools, but an original Only Fools Reliant is now up for grabs at Silverstone Auctions next month.
Thought to be one of about half a dozen Reliants used, this 1968 Regal can be seen in the re-runs of the “If they could only see us now” episode, as well as in the Hookie Street book.
Bought from a Bonhams Auction in 2008, the Reliant comes with a recon engine, fully synchro gearbox, a remote start, DVD and Cassette player, ‘Tiger Skin’ interior, ‘Del Boy’ and ‘Rodney’ mats, a pair of blow-up dolls and a switch to pour white smoke out of the back.
It’s done just 72k miles and Silverstone Auctions reckon it’s the most reliable Reliant regal on the road, complete with MoT and an outing in the London to Brighton Rally.
Silvertone’s NEC Classic Motor Show Sale is on 11 and 12 November 2017, and the Only Fools Reliant is offered without reserve.
