Overfinch Range Rover Supersport debut at Salon Privé
Overfinch has created the Range Rover Supersport, based on the Range Rover Sport SVR and costing from £179,990. Debuts at Salon Privé.
Overfinch has been around as tuners and modifiers of Land Rover’s finest since the 1970s, and on the whole their modifications are more subtle than the rash of recent Land Rover customisers and tuners. For a long time Overfinch excelled at coaxing more power from Range Rovers, but as Land Rover does a pretty good job of that themselves nowadays, they mostly concentrate on the cosmetics. But they’ve done a bit more than add shouty cosmetics to the Overfinch Range Rover Supersport, which debuts at Salon Prive this weekend.
Based on Land Rover’s bonkers Range Rover Sport SVR, Overfinch has set about making it deliver a bit more and weigh a bit less.
That means a set of 22″ alloys which weigh 5.5kg less each than the SVR’s standard – despite being a half inch wider – and a carbon fibre bonnet for a further saving of 5kg.
There’s also an Overfinch Titanium exhaust system, which not only saves 11kg from the standard fitting but also reduces back pressure by 60 per cent which, coupled with a new air intake system,, secondary intake and new air filter housing, should see some performance improvements.
Cosmetic stuff includes a power bulge on the bonnet in exposed carbon fibre – which is also used on the bigger air intakes, front splitter, wheel arch spats and rear valence – and in a slightly obsessive quest to cut weight, the bonnet lettering goes and the only badging is a carbon fibre Overfinch Blade on the tailgate.
Inside there’s the usual endless choice of quilted upholstery in Bridge of Weir leather and any other titivations your heart desires.
Ken Sloane, Overfinch Chairman, said:
Overfinch has a proud history of performance enhancements to the Range Rover, dating back to the company’s origins in 1975.
The Overfinch Supersport provided the opportunity for us to combine the exclusivity of an Overfinch bespoke conversion with the additional performance benefits of weight reduction and a specially-developed induction and exhaust system.
The result is a unique, high-performance vehicle that adds a new chapter to the Overfinch story.
The car Overfinch is using for the launch at Salon Prive this weekend gets extras and costs a thumping £198,990, but even the regular SuperSport will set you back £179,990 – almost twice the costs of a Range Rover Sport SVR.
Just 25 Supersport models are being built, and as soon as Overfinch send us some performance details and proper photos we’ll update here.
