The UK Government has confirmed plans to offer a £5ooo subsidy for electric cars and is installing recharging stations around the country. What a lot of nonsense.
Last year – even before the Scrappage Scheme was launched – we reported that the UK Government was planning to offer a subsidy to buyers of electric cars of up to £5,000 from 2011. Which they are. It’s official.
The Government hasn’t announced which cars will be eligible, but as the blurb is all about ‘Low Carbon’ and ‘Decarbonising Transport’ (no, you really wouldn’t want to have to read all the twaddle. We do, unfortunately) it looks as if the subsidy is going to be based on actual carbon levels. Obviously not the real carbon emissions of course, just as long as they’re not ‘NIMBY’ emissions. Which means fuel cell cars will also be eligible. Of which we do approve.
The Government is spending £450 million on low carbon ‘ Stuff’ and £30 million developing an infrastructure of ‘Electrical Vehicle Hubs’ which they’re going to catchilly call ‘Plugged-In Places’ (I wonder how much they’re spending to come up with these Buzz-Word names?). The ‘Plugged In-Places are going to kick off in London, Milton Keynes and ‘The North East’. The whole of the North East? Can we expect to see a ‘Plugged-in Place’ in Muggleswick, or do they mean just Newcastle and Sunderland. I think we should know.
Transport Secretary Andrew Adonis said :
“Decarbonising transport isn’t an aspiration – it’s a reality. By this time next year, cutting edge motorists will be on the roads with these next generation cars they’ve purchased because of our help.
For cutting-edge motorists, read those that have been fooled by cod science, conjecture and Government bribes to add credibility to the man-made global warming myth.
And sidekick Business minister Pat McFadden said:
Low Carbon vehicles are an important part of the broader shift to a low carbon economy. We have already committed £450m to delivering our ambitious vision of supporting suppliers of low carbon technology, encouraging demand from consumers and enabling lead UK cities and regions to switch on charging infrastructure. The Government is focusing on this sector as a priority.
God help us all. We’re being taxed billions on the basis of a ‘Man-Made’ Global warming theory which is a myth. Government considers the ‘Low Carbon’ sector a priority. Are they mad? What about the Health Service? What about crime? What about the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. These are priorities. Becoming a ‘Low Carbon economy’ is about as useful, relevant and appropriate as trying to make the UK a ‘Low Water Vapour Economy’.
We’ll wait for the hate mail. But this time – for those who vehemently disagree with our beliefs – instead of sending abusive emails likening us to Holocaust deniers for daring to suggest the man-made global warming theory is wrong, why not look at the article on Climate change and Cars, sit down and pen a reasoned argument and send it to us.
That way you can have your say. And in public.
