Polestar upgrades for Volvo’s Drive-E T5, T6, D4 and D5 to launch in June
Polestar – Volvo’s Motorsport division and in-house tuner – has revealed they’re launching power and performance upgrades across the new range of Drive-E engines.
Polestar has been tweaking Volvo’s road cars as well as its track cars for some time, so it’s only sensible that they get involved with offering performance upgrades for the new Drive-E engines too, especially as Volvo has now rolled them out across most of their range. And that’s exactly what’s happen ing.Polestar will be properly launching performance upgrades for the Drive-E T5, T6, D4 and D5 engines in June, performance modifications that will be installed at Volvo’s dealers and have no impact on warranties.
For Polestar, it’s not just about a quick software tweak to release a few more horses and a few more torques, but about delivering a car that’s more suited to the needs of a driver looking for a little more than the standard car.
So Volvo work to give the cars better throttle response with more feedback, quicker shift speeds, precision and in-gear hold for the new 8-speed auto ‘box, better off-throttle response for better balance and, of course, a bit more get up and go in the mid-range for more enthusiastic drivers.
Henrik Fries, Polestar’s Product Development Director, said:
We have opened up a vast area of improvements in terms of driving experience when working with the drivetrain combined with the cutting edge technology of the new Drive-E engines.
We are able to offer Volvo drivers our 20-year motorsport experience in an exciting product without any drawbacks in terms of reliability, safety or environmental impact.
The initial Polestar offerings for the new Drive-E engines – the T5, T6, D4 and D5 – are set to be available from June, but they say there will be a total of 140 different performance upgrades made available before the end of the year.
