Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Production starts in Germany
The Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo – the ‘Estate’ take on the Panamera – has gone in to production at Porsche’s plant in Leipzig.
The Porsche Panamera is an impressive car, but it was never a looker. It wasn’t so much the front – which looks like a Porsche should – but the back end was just not right.
But, to a degree, Porsche managed to fix the back end when the new Panamera arrived last year, although it won’t be challenging Aston Martin for the title of most beautiful four-door supercar.
But there is a Panamera that does look very special, and that’s the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo – revealed in production guise at the Geneva Motor Show – and it’s gone in to production this week at Porsche’s plant in Leipzig.
It’s a car no one ever expected Porsche to make – a four-do0r Estate car – but it looks terrific, has a completely new ‘Shooting Brake’ back end and, for our money, will mean no one wanting the normal Panamera any more.
After all, you get a much better looking car, more practicality, more headroom in the back and the choice of a Panamera 4 Sport Turismo, 4S, E-Hybrid and Turbo too.
The only model missing from the line-up is the option of the Turbo S E-Hybrid with its 671bhp from the equation. But that must come too.
So for all those who have put down their money on a Sport Turismo – after wanting one since Porsche first revealed the Sport Turismo Concept in 2012 – the wait is almost over.
