Renault Clio R.S. 18 hits the UK – a rare F1 inspired Clio

The Renault Clio Renault Sport 18 is coming to the UK and is based on the Clio RS 220 Trophy and with F1 inspired livery. Just 15 cars costing £24,295.

This morning we had details on the new Megane RS 280, and now comes news that the Renault Clio R.S. 18 is heading for the UK. But there will be just 15 cars available so you need to be quick.

Based on the Clio R.S 220 Trophy, the main focus of the 18 is on cosmetic titivation, although it does come with an Akrapovic to add some appealing notes to the performance.

The Clio R.S. 18 comes with just one livery – inspired by Renault’s current F1 colour scheme – which means a black paint job with highlights in Liquid Yellow, with the yellow bits featuring on the wheel centres and front bumper highlights and down the side, and RS decals on the wings and roof (easier for plod-copter to see you playing). Inside is even less titivated with Alcantara on the steering wheel, bits of carbon look trim and stainless steel sill plates.

Under the skin it’s pretty much standard RS 220 trophy, so that means a 217bhp 1.6 litre four-pot and a Hobson’s choice of dual-clutch EDC auto. Which is a bit of a shame.

At £24,295 the RS 18 isn’t cheap – but then nor is the RS 220 Trophy – and you’d have to ask yourself if you wouldn’t be better off with something like the Peugeot Sport 208 GTI. But if you just love a Clio, and the Sport 18 is for you, then be quick.
